Testimonies

Testimony in Tijuana; Springtime is HERE!

If you were with us back in 2023, you remember the time our beloved home faced an unimaginable loss. Our main building burned to the ground within a matter of minutes... Within those walls crumbled so many memories of life.    This building held our church sanctuary, main offices, school classrooms, music rooms, and nursery, along with countless memories of gathering together, in learning, discipleship, and worship.  It was the center and heartbeat of our entire ministry. A temporary home In the aftermath of the fire, we were able to setup a large tent in the center of campus to replace our beloved sanctuary. For the past three years, this tent has become a place of community, serving as our church hub–hosting daily devotions and worship services, as we've begun the journey to rebuild from the ashes.     The start of the new dream And finally! After much prayer, fundraising, and many months of makeshift efforts, our new building has reached the first stages of rising from the dust. We've begun the reconstruction of a new foundation!  We are so thrilled to see this dream—once only an idea imagined in the midst of challenge and hope—becoming a physical reality right before our eyes. While the journey ahead is still long and much remains to be invested, it is truly happening. We are incredibly thankful for the faithfulness of our Father every step of the way. You can see more details regarding the rebuild in the video here:    We are so grateful for your investment in us—both through your prayers and through the practical ways you support us. Your part in our lives and in our story is one of the reasons we’re able to continue the work and impact happening here at The Mission.  As we’ve often said, this place and this ministry is home to us. So this is not only a testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness within the organization, but also in our own personal lives as we continue to build history here and look forward to building even more life here in the years to come. And you get to be a part of this testimony with us. Continuing to share in the testimony: Your intentionality and your heart to bless us on this journey have meant more than you know! We have experienced so much of God’s glory in these early years of marriage, and we are still so expectant for all that is yet to come. Your contributions within the past months have allowed us to purchase some key items we needed for our new home: ● A bed (mattress and frame) ● Chairs for our dining room table! Our need continues to grow as we move forward in everyday life and as regular necessitie sarise. Things like home supplies, car maintenance, phone bills, groceries, and other day-to-day expenses all add up. We're in ROMANIA!

Thank you, from Romania! Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to spend some time in Sighișoara Romania, serving with The Mission team here, in Europe! A major focus at this base is our programs centered around caring for the children of the Roma (Gypsy) community. Across Europe, including here in Romania, these communities face harsh racism and marginalization. Living outcasted from society, in conditions similar to homelessness in the States, families of the Roma community gather together and do what they can to take care of their loved ones. And our team has stepped in!With clear direction and passion from our Father, we've remained committed to showing them that they have a safe place and a true home here — where they are seen, loved, and valued within our team, on our campus, and in the kingdom of God. Over the years, we’ve continued investing in and remodeling the building we purchased several years ago (an old, abandoned clothing factory) — little by little turning it into something even better and more suitable for our amazing kids, because they truly deserve the world! The Current Project: Remodeling the bathrooms and showers! Monday through Friday, we provide a space for the kids to learn about proper hygiene, enjoy two warm meals (breakfast and lunch), receive education through our on-campus school, and most importantly, experience the love of God that’s freely and fully available to them. We help guide them to discover their true identity as sons and daughters of God — giving them permission to dream, and to dream big! It’s such a joy to see the impact our team at The Mission is making around the world. It’s been a true blessing to join in the work here, in Romania, once again — even if only for a short time. We’ll be sure to share an update soon with the finished results of the new showers and bathrooms, as YOU have also partnered with us in prayer an support to make this happen! We greatly appreciate the blessings you've given us by being here with us this far. It truly means the world! Sydney & Juan   Continuing to pray & invest in our journey: How you can PRAY for us:  Physical Health— As we finishout the week and travel back to Mexico, we don't want sickness or jet-lag to deter us as we continue to work and serve. How you can SUPPORT us  / Some specific needs: In anticipation to grow our family, we were recently blessed with new housing in Mexico and are still needing a few essential pieces: A bed (mattress + frame) Shelves & dressers Patio furniture Other miscellaneous small housing items     To learn more about The Mission, where we live and serve, click below: themissioninc.org If you'd prefer to instantly bless us through CashApp or Venmo you can use the bubble icons below, or save them for later: CashApp: $SydneyLorenzana (green bubble) or Venmo: Sydney-Lorenzana (blue bubble)

One Year of Marriage, THANK YOU!

"Buenos dias!" This month marks a very special milestone for us— we’re celebrating our first year of marriage!  God has blessed us with the gift of being able to do ministry, together, in a place that’s so close to both of our hearts: The Mission, in Tijuana, Mexico, where we both now call home. You may have followed my (Sydney's) journey over the years, or maybe we've met sometime along the way. Either way, you'll know that The Mission, "Rancho de Sus Niños" or simply the life i've spent here in Mexico, has been more than just a season or passing chapter. This place has been deeply woven into my heart and has served as a guiding marker throughout my young adult life. Not the easiest path, but the one that's been worth it.   Now, after 10 years, in various ways i've been asked, "Why do you stay at The Mission? An orphanage as home? " Our "WHY." We often look around at the needs in the world we live in, and it’s only natural to assume that someone else—someone kind, someone capable, someone with more time will step in, and take care of whatever needs to be taken care of. We sit with good intentions, even in our prayers and intercessions, and trust in faith that “God will take care of them.” Well, after now spending almost a decade being a part of this ministry, we've had the privilege of seeing transformation that only comes through steady, consistent, every day choices. By answering the call, we've chosen to stand in gap as the very hands and feet of "God taking care of them." It is mine and Juan's honor and privilege to be able to earn the place of "safe space" to the kids that we've watched grow up over the years, here, at the orphanage. Now together, we get to invite them into this fun new chapter of family, as husband and wife. This last month: This last month we had the privilege of helping fill in as part of the acting "house parents" of one of the girls houses (group homes) here on campus.  11 beautiful loves got to experience our touch of parenthood, in their own space and weekly routine. And what a joy it was! Living alongside the girls—from making breakfast and helping them get ready for school each morning, to preparing dinner and settling into bedtime routines each evening.  We were able to connect with the girls in a special way—by serving them, praying over them, and just having fun with them. All while simultaneously communicating in a language that only time given can speak: "You're loved. You're chosen. No matter the circumstances that brought you here— you're now a daughter in this Kingdom." This is the story we are inviting you to be a part of. This ministry truly takes a village—those of us here on site, and those who support us through prayer and giving. We’re excited to share more details about everything happening here at The Mission—beyond our involvement with the orphanage homes, including our church, schools, outreach programs, and, hopefully very soon, our growing family. We’re walking in peace, confident we’re right where God wants us—trusting He’ll provide the means to continue writing this story, through friends and family like you. Some specific ways to pray and give: In anticipation to grow our little family, we were recently blessed with new housing and are needing a few essentials pieces: A bed (mattress + frame) A kitchen table & chairs Shelves & dressers Patio furniture How you can PRAY for us: Energy & strength—This month we'll be headed to ROMANIA to serve our second base there for three weeks!
