Donate to Tires for Bee Truck Start A CampaignFor the past few years, Gathering Table has leaned heavily on (no pun intended!) our 1978 Chevy Scottsdale C30 "Bee Truck" to keep the wheels on the ministry moving (double pun).
This year, we would like to invest in this truck and purchase a set of four new tires (the front two and two of the back duallys are in need of replacement). This investment will allow the ministry to continue using this truck for a variety of needs including:
- Checking the ministry's 20 bee hives every other week. This including hauling bee boxes, large watering container (150 gallons), and misc bee keeping materials.
- Transporting the table, chairs and crates for the Pop-Up Dinners.
- Moving up to 20 hives (over 1,000 lbs) for pollinating orchards and crops. This is a way the ministry generates income to support the costs of the bee hives and ministry needs.
- Hauling the Gathering Table booth for the Old Town Clovis Farmers Market.
In addition to new tires, we also plan to use the funds from this campaign to replace the back board of the flat bed with new wood and the Gathering Table logo. This will give the Bee Truck more visibility for promoting the ministry while driving around town. The estimated cost for re-doing the back board is $100-200.
Photo of truck front: We purchased the Bee Truck in 2021. It is running great - 350 V8 engine. We hope to rely on this truck for at least a few more years, as the ministry continues to grow.
Photo of truck back: The back board is shown here. We would like to re-do it with new hard wood and the Gathering Table logo. We re-did the flat bed a couple years ago with strong apitong wood planks that are top-of-the-line for flat beds.
Photo of truck side: Since purchased in 2021, the Bee Truck has made countless trips to the bee hives and transported the table and supplies for over a dozen Pop-Up Dinners. In addition, it has been used to haul the booth for the Old Town Clovis Farmer's Market, which we hope to do again next year.
If there are any questions about the truck, please don't hesitate to reach out to Jeff at (559) 260-3721.
